Sharpen the blades on your tools before the growing season gets underway. For small blades such as those from secateurs and pruning knifes use a whetstone. Soak the whetstone in water or some light-weight motor oil and then sharpen the blade using a one-stroke motion. Never pull the blade back on itself. For the bigger blades such as mower ones take them to a professional.
